F A Q

Where are located?

I work in Germanton NC, about 20 minutes northeast of Winston-Salem in a sweet little cabin in the woods I like to call my “healing hut”.

What Covid safety precautions have you put in place?

I am fully vaccinated and thrice boosted. I hope that you are, too.

The Healing Hut has been designed with Covid safety in mind. Three of its four walls are fully screened from floor to ceiling so that we enjoy wonderful cross-ventilation. Nevertheless, I am aware that even those of us who are fully vaccinated can harbor the virus in our upper respiratory tracts, so when local case numbers are high, I wear a mask while we work in close physical proximity to one another. To respect the fact that we may have differing tolerance for risk, please know that I am also happy to put on a mask at the client’s request.

How long does a session typically last?

A session is typically about 75 minutes long, but may be longer or shorter depending on what arises.

What happens during a healing session?

The healing work I am offering now is focused on helping you to make lasting change. It is deeper work than regular massage; but by “deeper”, I do not mean more pressure in a physical sense. By “deeper”, I mean that I will invite you to address what might be going on for you beneath the surface. There are two options for working together:

  • In-person sessions allow for physical contact, and sometimes a session will involve targeted therapeutic massage and/or energy work as a “way in” to your deeper emotional and spiritual landscape.  This is intuitive work built on the assumption that whatever arises is exactly what needs to be healed first. As I travel your inner landscape with you, questions and observations may arise that shift your perspective and lead to healing.
  • Non-local (aka “virtual”) healing session via Zoom are always available, even after the pandemic is over. When we plan a non-local session, I will send you a link to the Zoom call the day before we are scheduled to meet. On the day of our appointment, set up your device (a laptop is ideal, but a cell phone can work too) someplace quiet where you will not be disturbed. We will spend a few minutes sitting and talking about your concerns, goals and intentions for the healing, and then We will follow where spirit leads. If this is your first time experiencing nonlocal (distance) healing work, relax, release your expectations, and enjoy the session!

What illnesses and conditions can be helped by this work?

There is no illness or condition that is definitively beyond the reach of this work. We are stepping into mystery, and I have had the pleasure of observing that most people who seek healing benefit greatly from the shift in perspective that comes as a result of the deep contact and presence of a skilled healer. It is often impossible to tell what changes have been set in motion until some time later. Whether you experience your healing as a small shift, a great change, or anything in between, my intention is to assist you in taking the next step in your personal healing journey.

What does “Niasziih” mean?

Loosely translated as “vessel of healing”, the term Niasziih comes from the Lipan Apache tradition that is taught at the Wilderness Fusion school. Niasziih healing is the earth centric healing philosophy that allows the healer to become the “place of healing”.

What earth centric means in a practical sense is that we recognize that we are a part of and in relationship with the natural world. It not only surrounds us – it includes us and actively supports us. The communication we experience with the natural world is central to our healing. This is why I have carefully chosen the wooded outdoor location of the healing hut.

Are you still offering massage in addition to this new, deeper work?

Like most massage therapists, I started out offering the Swedish relaxation type of massage, but as I gained experience through the years, I realized that I was most interested in helping people solve their problems. If some part of your body is speaking up through pain or discomfort, I hope you will make an appointment with me. And…

As we address what’s going on with your muscles, we will be making contact on multiple levels and I will share information as it arises. Your body holds great wisdom, and physical touch is often the “doorway” to deeper insights.

I am no longer offering Swedish relaxation massage, because although the experience of drifting away can be lovely, I’d rather focus on helping you step toward the healing you need.
