FAQ

F A Q

Where are you located?

The Healing Hut is in Germanton NC, about 20 minutes northeast of Winston-Salem

How long does a session last?

A session is typically about 75 minutes long, but may be longer depending on what arises.

What happens during a healing session?

Most of us have very few opportunities to experience genuine contact with one another – that enriching, enlivening experience of being deeply heard and witnessed. The Healing Hut is a sacred, protected healing space in the woods where I intentionally cultivate that opportunity for you.

And when we sit in our rocking chairs facing one another, I listen to more than your words. A landscape opens up between us that holds all the information we need for whatever part of you is ready to come forward and be healed.

My primary tool is the question. I listen carefully and intuitively for Spirit to guide me to the question that will take you farther along your path. We follow your answer like trackers in the woods.

There are other tools available to us: moving and balancing energy,  guided meditations and visualizations, intuitive coaching and sometimes targeted therapeutic massage. It is all led by intuition, so of course no two sessions are ever going to be exactly the same.

Sometimes we pull cards. Sometimes we notice that an animal approaching the Healing Hut has particular significance to the work we’re doing. We notice bird calls, train whistles, the sirens of emergency vehicles, and the barking of nearby dogs and we wonder,  “Why now? What could this mean?”

Non-local (aka “virtual”) healing sessions via Zoom are always available. When we plan a non-local session, I will send you a link to the Zoom call the day before we are scheduled to meet. On the day of our appointment, set up your device (a laptop is ideal, but a cell phone can work too) someplace quiet where you will not be disturbed. We will spend a few minutes sitting and talking about your concerns, goals and intentions for the healing, and then We will follow where spirit leads. If this is your first time experiencing nonlocal (distance) healing work, relax, release your expectations, and enjoy.

What illnesses and conditions can be helped by this work?

There is no illness or condition that is definitively beyond the reach of this work. We are stepping into Mystery, and I have had the pleasure of observing that most people who seek healing benefit greatly from the shift in perspective that comes as a result of the deep contact and presence of a skilled healer. It is often impossible to tell what changes have been set in motion until some time later. Whether you experience your healing as a small shift, a great change, or anything in between, my intention is to assist you in taking the next step in your personal healing journey.

What is "earth based" healing?

What earth based healing means in a practical sense is that we recognize that we are a part of and in relationship with the natural world. It not only surrounds us – it includes us and actively supports us. The communication we experience with the natural world is central to our healing. This is why I have carefully chosen the wooded outdoor location of the healing hut.

What part does massage play in your work?

Like most massage therapists, I started out offering the Swedish relaxation type of massage, but as I gained experience through the years, I realized that I was more interested in helping people solve their problems. If some part of your body is speaking up through pain or discomfort, we can assume that it wants to be heard, and I hope you will make an appointment with me. And…

As we address what’s going on with your muscles, we will be making contact on multiple levels and I will share information as it arises. Your body holds great wisdom, and physical touch is often the “doorway” to deeper insights.

I am no longer offering Swedish relaxation massage, because although the experience of drifting away can be lovely, I’d rather focus on helping you step toward the healing you need.

Are you careful about preventing Covid?

I am fully vaccinated and boosted. I hope that you are, too.

The Healing Hut was designed with Covid safety in mind. Three of its four walls are fully screened from floor to ceiling so that we enjoy wonderful cross-ventilation. Nevertheless, I am aware that even those of us who are fully vaccinated can harbor the virus in our upper respiratory tracts, so when local case numbers are high, I wear a mask if we are working in close proximity to one another. To respect the fact that we may have differing tolerance for risk, please know that I am  happy to wear a mask at the your request.

Do you work in the Healing Hut year round?

Yes, I do, but the Healing Hut is not a conditioned space. Because of this, you may notice that my calendar does not offer afternoon appointments in the heat of summer or early morning appointments in the winter. When the weather gets cold though, I roll down the vinyl panels and keep it toasty in the Hut by using a table warmer and propane heater.
