Warm Healings on Chilly Mornings

It’s one thing to embrace the idea of working with wild nature in the healing process, and something else to actually experience what that means when the weather strays from the consistent 72° setting of an office thermostat! With no HVAC system, my awareness of the natural world is far more attuned than it has ever been before. How is this working out, you might wonder?

First of all, when you check my online scheduler, you will notice that I’ve shifted the times of day that I’m offering sessions. In the heat of summer when temperatures were rising into the 90s by early afternoon, it made sense to only work in the hut in the morning. Now that chilly mornings are the limiting factor, sessions have been starting at 10 am or later so the hut has time to warm up.

Yes, warm up! Clear vinyl roll-up shades now cover the screened walls and they’re doing a good job of holding the heat provided by the radiant propane heater in the corner. It cheers us with a warm orange glow on cold mornings. The hut still has good ventilation – because remember, that is what prompted my pandemic-inspired move to the woods in the first place – and the airflow between the floorboards, around the french doors, and at the edges of the vinyl panels serves to emphasize the coziness of being under a fuzzy blanket with the table warmer beneath you. It’s been very comfortable so far!

Because of the shorter days and earlier sunsets, I’ve installed a string of lights along the pathway to guide you through the woods and back.

If healing is a shift in perspective – and that’s the definition I use – it’s been very healing for me to be working in tune with the natural world. It’s amazing the things you notice in the environment when you’re not insulated from the out of doors.

If you haven’t had a session with me at the healing hut yet, I hope you’ll schedule an appointment soon. I’ll be delighted to warm it up for you!
